John Davidson ( 1857 - 1909 ) was born in Scotland, and moved to London in 1889.  He was a poet, novelist and playwright.  Most of his themes depict decadence and anarchy.

At the age of 51, suffering from depression and illness, Davidson committed suicide by drowning near Penzance, Cornwall.
