OSCAR OF ALVA
A Tale
by
Lord Byron
In The Works of Lord Byron, the notes that pertained to Oscar of Alva, reads:
The catastrophe of this tale was suggested by the story of Jeronyme and Lorenzo in the first volume of Schiller's Armenian, or the Ghost-Seer. It also bears some resemblance to a scene in the third act of Macbeth.A fact of interest . . . about 15 years ago, Poland's internationally acclaimed composer, Marta Ptaszynska, received the Polish Radio and Television Composers Award for the TV opera, Oscar of Alva, based on Byron's poem.
