Byron's tale is close enough to the real tragedy of Ugo of the House of Este and Parisina Malatesta of Rimini, that his version is certainly worth reading.
A NOTE TO THE READER: The following is taken from the 1816 edition of Parisina. You will notice that some of the words, and most of the punctuation, are not the same as in later editions. The copyist for Byron's manuscript of Parisina was his wife, Lady Byron, before they separated.
