William Wordsworth ( 1770 - 1850 ) was one of England's earliest romantic poets, and was made poet laureate in 1843.

Wordsworth, along with Samuel Taylor Coleridge and Robert Southey, were known as the "Lake Poets."  The lake district is  located in the Cumbria area of northwestern England.
